RTO Advocacy

Legacy Foundation

The RTO Legacy Foundation is a registered charity established to honor the life and work of Nova Scotia teachers. By donating you can pay tribute to passed teachers while supporting Nova Scotia youth under 21.

RTO and the NSTU

The RTO has a strong working relationship with the NSTU, which provides important support such as meeting space, clerical services, printing/postal assistance, and access to NSTU. This partnership is essential to the RTO’s operations and success.

The Legacy
Foundation

The Retired Teachers’ Legacy Foundation, a registered Canadian charity since 1995, supports programs benefiting youth under 21 in Nova Scotia. Through community engagement and donations honouring the life and work of retired teachers, the foundation awards grants annually to Nova Scotia organizations focused on education, health, and social well-being, fostering a lasting positive impact on future generations.

Goodwill Member Services

The RTO and their local branches are dedicated to supporting its members and the broader community through various goodwill services. These initiatives include help through connection and support for members facing unexpected hardships, volunteering in their local communities and organizing events or initiatives to support retired teachers, and other social causes important to members. Additionally, the RTO collaborates with the Nova Scotia Hospice Palliative Care Association to provide leadership in advance care planning for both members and the community. These efforts reflect the RTO’s commitment to fostering well-being and making a positive impact across Nova Scotia.
